Well here's a bit of a switcheroo. It was only a couple of weeks ago that it was reported that Abigail Spencer (best known for her stint on "Mad Men") would be taking the lead in the Joss Whedon-penned "In Your Eyes." But as she's gearing up to make to star in and produce her script "Wrong Number" (co-produced by the omnipresent James Franco, of course), this spring, perhaps she thought it wise to give herself some time to get prepared. But no matter, "In Your Eyes" has rebounded with a more than capable replacement.
Deadline reports that Zoe Kazan will now lead the pic with "Cloverfield" thesp Michael Stahl-David co-starring. Described as a "metaphysical" romance, the story centers Dylan and Rebecca, the former an ex-con living in a trailer in New Mexico, the latter married to a doctor and residing in Connecticut. Yet somehow they can both see and hear each other, even though they've never met. Turns out they are both huge "Firefly" fans as well. Just kidding.
Brin Hill will direct this low-budget film, with lensing set to start in Los Angeles and Boston next week. Meanwhile, there is plenty more on the way to satisfy your Whedon needs including, of course, "The Avengers," "Cabin In the Woods" (which he co-wrote), and his indie shot-in-twelve-days adaptation of "Much Ado About Nothing," which is expected to be on the festival circuit this year.
