Audiences wouldn’t immediately think that “Star Wars” fit well within the DC Comics universe of Batman and Superman. But oddly enough, directors Zack Snyder and J.J. Abrams have been going back and forth with their Star Wars and DCEU mash-ups since last year, prior to the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Now with “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” set to open in a little more than a week, Snyder is back with another mash-up.
The “Justice League” director shared “Dark Side Knight v Super Jedi: Dawn of the Alliance” on the social network Vero, and it’s definitely worth a view. Incorporating iconic images from “Star Wars” into the teaser trailer for “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Snyder has created a version of the film where Batman is Darth Vader (maybe?) and Superman is pretty much a Skywalker. Does it fit together? Your mileage may vary, but either way, it is interesting to think of an alternate version of the classic superheroes where they wield lightsabers.
Of course, if you tear it apart too much, you can point out that perhaps Superman doesn’t need a lightsaber, considering his immense power, and Batman probably wouldn’t align himself with the Empire. However, it’s best to just shut your brain off and just imagine a world where this film exists. Probably would have been more interesting than ‘BvS’ don’t you think?
