Got a Tip?

Zachary Levi Says He Would “Lose All Of The S—s” If Shazam Joined The Justice League

Oh, would you look at that adorable little DCEU! Still thinking that people care about their shared cinematic universe! How cute!

All kidding aside, with “Shazam!” about to hit San Diego Comic-Con, people are still asking if the character will have a big impact on the shared universe and show up as a member of the “Justice League.” Seriously?

In a new report from EW, a producer on “Shazam!” was asked if there was any chance that we could see the titular superhero show up in other DCEU films, specifically a future “Justice League” sequel. Now, as ridiculous as that sounds to people who sadly watched “Justice League,” Peter Safran doesn’t think it’s an impossibility.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Shazam play a role in the DCU,” Safran said. “He exists in that world.”

Keep in mind that “Justice League” was the worst performing DCEU film and has pretty much cratered the idea of an overarching MCU-like DC shared universe. Now, WB/DC is scrambling to make films that sorta-kinda fit in continuity but not really focusing on the “shared” aspect. Yeah, you’ll get “Wonder Woman 1984” but don’t expect a cameo from Superman. And no, Batman won’t be showing up in your “Birds of Prey.” Let’s not even talk about the Joker(s) issue.

Even though the idea of a “Justice League 2” is pretty silly at this point, that doesn’t mean that “Shazam!” star Zachary Levi isn’t excited by the possibility. “I would lose my shit if that happened, I would lose all of the shits,” Levi said. “I remember thinking, ‘If I get this and if this movie does well enough and if ‘Justice League’ does well enough and they make another ‘Justice League’…maybe I’ll be on that next poster with all those guys.”

Yes, we poke fun at the DC Extended Universe quite a bit. Mainly because the films aren’t great and the fandom is so rabid, meaning you have to sit back and try to enjoy it however you can. But the truth is, the idea of a “Justice League” sequel or Shazam showing up in other films is completely a moot point at this moment. If “Shazam!” becomes a blockbuster, then maybe.

However, at this point, Levi should just be happy that DC is putting him in the same continuity as Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Because as we will probably learn in the coming months, DC is less interested in sharing their universe and more interested in just trying to make profitable films. And that definitely means leaving the Snyder-influenced “Justice League” behind for now.

Oh, and if you’re waiting to get your pre-SDCC “Shazam!” fix, here are a couple new photos:
