Man, just when we thought we were getting tired of Seth Rogen and the whole related crew of funnypeople (Danny McBride, Jody Hill) involved in nu-raunch comedy comes along the pretty hilarious trailer for “Observe & Report.” We must admit, we were taken aback from this thing, how filthy and Un-PC it was. It’s for the best of course. The opening song is “House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals and man Anna Faris is so damn fucking funny in it. The film hits April 10th and premieres about two weeks before at the SXSW Film Festival. Update: The other two songs are, in the beginning, “Over Under Sideways Down” by The Yardbirds (from the album Birdland) and later on, ’70s British progressive jazz-rock band formed Patto’s “The Man.”
Looks sorta funny. Know what that second song is?
That was amazing and looks like it will probably be Rogen’s best work since the second half of Freaks and Geeks!
Yeah, I wish I knew what that second song was too. It sounded vaguely Bowie-ish, but also obviously wasn’t.
Did not think it would be that good.
It’s “The Man” by Patto.
If anyone can find that as an mp3, let me know!
I got a Bowie vibe too from the song, as well as a bit of the Stones and John Lennon. Maybe they should’ve used Bowie’s Watch That Man instead.
Never heard of Patto, but a quick visit to allmusic.com shows them as some obscure early 70s British rock band. Dunno, cult following perhaps?
I found the song… not to hard, simple torrent search for Patto.
That trailer does look great. I love how the voice-over goes all “Taxi Driver” toward the end.
Looks fantastic. Hate to build things up too much but it looks like it could be my favorite comedy of 2009. Seems to fit somewhere between Taxi Driver and Bad Santa.
Great find with that song too.
