In the era of #TooMuchContent, we try to avoid sketch comedy; there’s too much to cover already. But we have to make an exception, as we occasionally do for Peacock’s “Would It Kill You To Laugh?” a new sketch comedy special from A24 starring Kate Berlant and John Early. A one-hour special featuring the comedy duo Berlant and Early—up-and-coming comedians on the rise—the pair play exaggerated versions of themselves as they reunite after suffering a public fallout many years earlier. And hell, it looks pretty hilarious.

Berlant is known for smaller roles in “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” and she has a fairly significant part in the upcoming “A League Of Their Own” reboot series. Berlant has also lent her voice to many adult comedies like “Bob’s Burgers,” “American Dad!” and “Bojack Horseman.”
Early is probably best known for his co-starring in the breakout HBO comedy hit, “Search Party.” He recently starred in the comedy series “The Afterparty” alongside Ben Schwartz and Tiffany Haddish. Early has also done a fair bit of voice work, lending his voice to shows like “Robot Chicken,” “Close Enough” and “Tuca And Bertie.”
The one-hour special will also star television veteran and Emmy winner Meredith Vieria. Most known for her role in the Netflix series “Orange Is The New Black,” Vieria has also starred in shows like “30 Rock,” “Doctor Who,” and “House Of Cards.”
Berlant and Early will serve as executive producers alongside Andrew DeYoung (“PEN15,” “Our Flag Means Death,” “Shrill”) and A24 (who also produce television like “Euphoria”). DeYoung will additionally serve as director and co-writer.
“We are eternally grateful to Peacock for giving us this opportunity to make the nation laugh,” said executive producers Kate Berlant, John Early, and Andrew DeYoung, collectively. “The three of us could not be happier to be back together again making a big batch of sketches for you all.” “Would It Kill You To Laugh?” will premiere on Peacock TV on June 24, 2022.
