Recent reshoots on Joe Johnston’s ‘The Wolf Man” were reportedly an attempt to make the title character tougher and fiercer on all fours in battle. All reshoots were handled Vic Armstong and apparently focused on “a great confrontation between the Wolf Man and the Werewolf” with leads actors only on set intermittently. We’re huge fans of Benicio but god, this sounds awful. [Daily Mail via /Film]
Nicole Kidman is attached to star and produce the BBC Films production of the Chris Cleave novel “Little Bee.” The film centers on a fateful encounter on an African beach in which a 16-year-old Nigerian orphan named Little Bee meets a vacationing upper-middle-class British couple who’ve wandered into an area outside the safety of their resort. Shawn Slovo is writing the script. [Variety]
Rosamund Pike, Minnie Driver and Rachelle Lefevre have joined Richard Lewis’ adaptation of Mordecai Richler‘s “Barney’s Version,” the story of the politically incorrect, fully lived life of the impulsive, irascible and fearlessly blunt Barney Panofsky (Giamatti). All three will play Panofsky’s wives. [THR]
Director David Yates has revealed that the two part installment of “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows” will respectively be a road trip movie “a bit like three refugees being pursued across the landscape” that will be”vérité,” “edgy” and “almost-documentary-like” and an epic opera that will be a grand story about larger than life characters. With good reviews still coming in thick and fast for the sixth installment and an impressive sounding plan for its concluding two films, it’ll be interesting how this franchise is looked back on when all is said and done. Rainn Wilson revealed via his twitter that he and Nathan Fillion are set to meet with DC Comics. It’s believed the two are in line to voice some characters for upcoming animated features. [Wilson’s Twitter]
Karl Urban has revealed that he is in talks for a relatively well-known and well-received graphic novel project that will be announced in “about a week or so.” [ONTD]
The plot for the “Tron” sequel has been released: “TRON (as it is tentatively titled) is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous. Eh. The fact remains however, the only thing remotely interesting about this film so far is that French electronic propulsives, Daft Punk are writing the movie’s score. [/Film]
I'm going to put out a WILD guess re: Karl Urban's announcement and say that it involves "Preacher". I doubt it now that I've said it, but I'm gonna leave it in case I'm right.
In reality, it will probably be some graphic novel that few have heard or care about. Probably involving guns and aliens, since that's his steez.
I'm glad someone cares. 😉
Where do you think I've been for the last few months? Obviously starting my one-man Karl Urban fan club.
Just had to share my inkling.
🙂
And i would love nothing more than you to be correct. Too bad we don't have it in the piece (we could always add if someone felt so inclined).
Branagh's off the Thor movie and Herzog is in and casting as many shitty actors as possible for Thor: Port of Call Tax Break.
