It’s frankly something of a crime that Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly have only made two movies together: 2006’s uneven “Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby” and 2008’s riotous “Step Brothers.” And while there has been half-hearted, on and off chatter about a sequel to the latter, it has never really gained much momentum, and likely never will (especially as Hollywood saw the sequels to both “Zoolander” and “Anchorman” disappointment). But a new, original project for Ferrell and Reilly? I don’t know, that sounds even better to me.
Deadline reports that the duo have signed up to star in the self-explanatory, “Holmes and Watson.” The project has been kicking around for a while now, and at one time was mooted for Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen, but it never panned out. So now Reilly will play Watson to Ferrell’s Holmes, in the movie that’s slated to be directed by Ethan Cohen (“Get Hard“), with production gearing up to start after Thanksgiving.
And yes, while there are a bajillion Sherlock Holmes projects kicking around at the moment, this is really the only one I care about.
Oh my God, yes.
Lol, this sounds good
It’s something of a crime that you apparently think “Step Brothers” is better than “Talladega Nights.”
Step Brothers is much better than Talladega Nights.
Different strokes for different folks – aside from a few funny scenes I thought Stepbrothers was a one note mess. However I feel Talladega Nights is funny through and through.
The OG concept was something of a loss for me for a while. Unrealized. This will do, I guess. I would prefer to live in a world where the OG version was produced instead of the Downey version.
