Got a Tip?

‘Wild Things’ Watch!: New Photo Of Max From Spike Jonze’s Children’s Book Adapation

(That was supposed to be like “Panda Watch!”) Face it, every body’s super excited to see Spike Jonze’s adaptation of “Where The Wild Things Are,” problems aside. MTV has the exclusive. Now who has reports about those reshoots?

Aren’t their no spies in L.A. like combing the streets for that stuff? What silly rumors and wanton speculation could possibly spring forth from these photos? Wait, this boy doesn’t look like the one in the originally leaked video!

Oh yeah, we made an imaginary soundtrack based on Spike Jonze’s work.

  1. That kid’s face is nowhere near being mean enough to play Max as drawn by Maurice Sendak.

It looks like Spike Jonze (or the casting director or whoever) wants to cast a kid with cute potential. Max is NOT a cute kid, or really even supposed to be likable. I know it’s just an illustration in a children’s book, but the reason the book is so revered by me, even now, is the illustrations. And the spareness of the captions.

Max is a beady-eyed rotten little imp. This kid’s face (the button nose, the cherub’s cheeks) is all wrong.

In 2009, we can also look forward to seeing Ridley Scott shit all over “Blood Meridian,” though I have considerable more faith in Spike Jonze.

  2. Photo exclusive blog posts can’t technically be “gay” because they don’t have a gender and are therefore unlikely to engage in homosexual intercourse with other “gay” blog posts of the same nonexistent gender. I’ll give you rights to “retarded” because it sounds like you may suffer from some form of that affliction and therefore have genetic usage priveleges in regard to that term.

As far as max goes, I have to agree that he’s just too darn cute. An ugly looking kid with a big nose and thick head would just look more memorable. Much like Max in the original illustrations.

  3. I must agree with Jake on the choice of vocabulary words you use to criticize things.

Calling something “gay” and “retarded” doesn’t lend you much credibility.
