Jay Roach and Danny Strong have found their niche at HBO with political dramas. The director and writer first paired on "Recount" about the hotly contested 2000 election, and they followed it up this year with "Game Change," which focused on the McCain/Palin ticket of 2008. And while they aren't officially signed yet, you can imagine that the network will be giving their agents a ring as they develop "Double Down," a film about this year's election.
Authors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, who penned "Game Change," are hard at work on the follow-up book optioned by HBO, but you might wondering, where's the drama in this year's race? There was no Palin-esque figure around which to pivot a narrative, but for those that followed closely, there was plenty going on behind the scenes. Politico in particular did a great job of dissecting the Romney campaign, the internal strife and the failure to capitalize on winning the first debate. Those articles are both great reads, and they really examine how gradually it all fell apart for the Republican nominee.
But of course, the big question is who will play Romney. If you saw "Game Change" you'll know Barack Obama was kept off camera, so we'd guess the same approach will be used here. Any suggestions? [THR]
How about Jon Hamm from 'Mad Men'?
Victor Garber, Dermot Mulroney, Daniel Day-Lewis or Liam Neeson but my first choice would be Kevin Kline
If the decision is based on looks, Bruce Campbell has an incredible resemblance with Romney.
I was a big fan of both the "Game Change" book and movie. I do, however, think it's likely that many of the people who participated in the first book did so because it was a balanced look at both the Democratic and Republican parties. When the movie decided to focus in on the Republican downfall, it felt like the move was made in bad faith, though I think the finished product was fair.
I hope they show both the Republican and Democratic campaigns this time.
Maybe Liev Schreiber, although "Bruce Campbell" is the best choice on the table. Look how alike they look here: http://images2.fanpop.com/images/photos/6500000/Bruce-Campbell-as-Ash-bruce-campbell-6537044-320-240.jpg
Alternatively, if neither is available, my father, who looks identical to the man and voted for him in Nov., could really get the job done.
Giancarlo Esposito reads to the second-to-last-sentence and goes "…goddammit."
"Yes, a sequel to "Game Change!" said absolutely no one.
Bruce Campbell has my vote.
