Got a Tip?

Wes Anderson Confirms He’s Reuniting With Bob Balaban For ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’

nullWith the one-two punch of the animated “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and last year’s “Moonrise Kingdom,” Wes Anderson has reinvigorated his career and is already hard at work on his next film, “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” While little is known about the film, other than it being another period piece, slowly but surely he has revealed the grand ensemble he’s assembled which now will include character actor and ‘Moonrise’ narrator Bob Balaban.

In an interview with EW casually revealed that he’s reuniting with some of the ‘Moonrise’ cast for his Ernst Lubitsch and Billy Wilder-inspired followup, specifically the unsung trio of Balaban,Jason Schwartzman and Harvey Keitel, saying that “all three of them are coming to Germany to work on ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ too.” While it was already known that the latter two actors were cast, this is first time we’ve heard about Balaban joining Anderson’s troupe.

Of course the three will be joining fellow ‘Moonrise’ actors Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton and Anderson-fixture Bill Murray in an ensemble that includes Ralph Fiennes, Jude Law, Saoirse Ronan, Jeff Goldblum, Owen Wilson, F. Murray Abraham, Mathieu Amalric, Adrien Brody and Willem Dafoe. Shooting is already underway with no release date set but could it be possible that we get Wes Anderson movies two years in a row?

  1. Wes Anderson is an auteur with vision. He understands the craft of filmmaking. Joss Whedon is laughable in comparison. All those who think The Avengers is "the most awesome movie ever made" should watch a Wes Anderson film — any Wes Anderson film.
