Welcome Back To The Park: The First Trailer For ‘Jurassic World’ Is Here

Jurassic WorldThe pressure on the shoulders of director Colin Trevorrow must be massive. Making the leap from the indie "Safety Not Guaranteed" to "Jurassic World," the future of the franchise rests with him. Does he have the experience to pull this off? Will this be a return to the kind of magic audiences experienced in the Steven Spielberg-directed "Jurassic Park" over twenty years ago? Well, we’re about to find out as the first trailer has just landed.

To Trevorrow’s benefit, he’s got great talent on all sides. Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Judy Greer, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Irrfan Khan and more make up the cast, and the script carries the fingerprints of screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, who were behind the reboots of the excellent "Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes" and "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes." So, it worked for primates, but can it work for dinosaurs? We’ll see. Plot details have mostly been relegated to rumor at this point — all we know is that we’re returning to Isla Nebula, and the park from the first film — so today is the first time we’ll get a taste of where the series is headed next.

"Jurassic World" opens on June 12, 2015.

  1. @Christian – Wow… did we watch the same preview. Those are some pretty conclusive reviews for a movie you\’ve only seen flashes of. Why don\’t you wait before you hate? Ease up gangsta.

  2. As far as I am concerned, the trailer is poorly made. The movie may yet be better. The cgi looks overdone, scenes do not look atmospheric enough, its dark, dialogs are lifted straight from b-grade horror movies, it looks like we will be looking at freak show hybrids – not actual science based life forms … Should I go on?

  3. I adored Jurassic Park when I was a kid (and I still do), but I don\’t think this has any of the wonder of Spielberg\’s magic touch what so ever. The dialogue sounds completely generic and the overuse of CGI makes me sad. It looks like post-LOTR Peter Jackson\’s version of a Jurassic Park movie. Also, Chris Pratt takes me completely out of the movie. I don\’t believe for one second that he is in danger of being eaten. Maybe the classics like Jurassic Park, Star Wars, etc. really should be left alone.
