Got a Tip?

WB Reveals Full DC Slate Through 2020, Including Two ‘Justice League’ Pics, ‘Wonder Woman,’ ‘Green Lantern’ & More

nullIf you’re weary of comic book movies, tired of the whole tentpole thing, and couldn’t give a flying you-know-what to interconnected superhero universes, you better move on. Today, Warner Bros. unveiled more of their massive DC Comics plans, setting dates for the expected character spinoffs, and one massive team-up movie.

First up, "Suicide Squad" (with David Ayer now confirmed to direct) seems to be much further along than anyone expected, with a 2016 release planned (we presume it’ll take the August 5, 2016 date WB already flagged). In 2017, the studio will drop both "Justice League" and "Wonder Woman." 2018 will see "The Flash" (with Ezra Miller bagging the lead role) and "Aquaman," and then in 2019, things get huge, with both "Justice League 2" and "Shazam." And oh, how big will those "Justice League" movies be? Well, Zack Snyder is directing and it will be a two-part affair. Damn.

And that’s not all. 2020 will bring "Cyborg" starring Ray Fisher, and the reboot of "Green Lantern," probably not starring Ryan Reynolds. And where are Batman and Superman? Never fear, solo movies are in the works for both characters, but we won’t be seeing them for at least six years. So look out Marvel, you’ve got a newcomer chomping at the bit right on your heels.

"Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice" – March 25, 2016
"Suicide Squad" – August 5, 2016
"Wonder Woman" – June 23, 2017
"Justice League: Part 1" – November 17, 2017
"The Flash" – March 23, 2018
"Aquaman" – July 27, 2018
"Shazam" – April 5, 2019
"Justice League: Part 2" – June 14, 2019
"Cyborg" – April 3, 2020
"Green Lantern" – June 19, 2020

  1. So I count a total of 30 major studio Superhero films based on comic book properties (so far…) scheduled to be released over a period of 5 years.

I believe we are witnessing the birth of the "foie gras" method of media brand building. I hope everyone is feeling really hungry for spandex…

  2. It bothers me that we will be getting a Flash movie which is in no way related to the show and the Justice League movie will be \’Part 1\’

  3. Wait, Ezra Miller has been cast as The Flash? DC is just one step behind Marvel in every way. "Did you hear that they made this huge announcement? We should do one too!"
