Greased up sweaty dudes? Swords? Mythical creatures? Lots of yelling? No, this isn’t the new trailer for “Immortals” but instead it’s the latest U.K. spot for “Conan The Barbarian” the long awaited franchise reboot no one was asking for.
Jason Momoa takes on the lead role that made Arnold Schwarzenegger a household name before impregnating his housekeeper would more or less do the same thing all over again. What we glean is that the movie will follow a young Conan who grabs a sword and yells who then grows up to be an older Conan who wields a sword and yells. Some things never change. Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, Saïd Taghmaoui and Ron Perlman all co-star in various and probably thankless roles and the whole thing will be delivered in 3D by Marcus Nispel, capping off the reasons you might just want to save that $12 before buying a ticket.
The movie opens on August 19th and if we sit through this, it’s only because we’re sort of curious about what those sand monster thingies are all about. Check out the trailer below. [HeyUGuys]
I\’ve been following coverage of Conan and I find myself most closely in line with First Showing (link below). Every piece of content they have released for Conan has me more interested than the one previous. This trailer very nicely drop s some details about the storyline, which is more in tune with the Robert E. Hopward version of Conan. I, for one, am excited about it.

\”Plenty of Conan comic/game/book fans too. The only people not asking for a reboot are fans of the 1982 film.\” Touché! My thoughts exactly!
And from what I have read, the naysayers are outnumbered. It seems that there\’s some good buzz around this adaptation, save a few fans of the 1982 film. Most of those fans are even open to it.
I\’m excited about this adaptation for mainly two reasons:
1. It\’s truer to the R. Howard stories – which are the true original.
And
2. Jason Momoa plays Conan. He looks more like the original Conan (see this image: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Conan9.png) And furthermore, he has proved himself to be a total badass, via Stargate Atlantis and Game Of Thrones.
\”the long awaited franchise reboot no one was asking for.\”
Hey now, I know a lot of Robert E. Howard fans who were asking for a reboot. Plenty of Conan comic/game/book fans too. The only people not asking for a reboot are fans of the 1982 film.
