Of all the films hitting the Venice, Telluride and TIFF trifecta over the next few weeks, one of the biggest of the fall is absent: Lars Von Trier‘s “Nymphomaniac.” It’s easily the most audacious effort that’s on the way, and certainly the most provocative, and it continues to tease is measured doses, with one more look arriving today to cap off the summer.
In a preview of the film’s third chapter, “Mrs. H.,” we get our first look at Uma Thurman, playing a clearly scorned wife who confronts her husband’s lover with the children in tow. And it’ll make you squirm just as you might expect. Here’s the synopsis for chapter three:
Keeping track of a large network of lovers isn’t always easy, and Joe is soon confronted with the unpleasant consequences of being a nymphomaniac.
After all, you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.
“Nymphomaniac” opens in Denmark on Christmas Day. Magnolia Pictures will release the film stateside.
