How would you like to see a movie about a quirky British man who travels through time by stepping into a seemingly small room? What if that movie also co-starred Bill Nighy? I know what you’re thinking, Dr. Who, right? Unless, of course, you read the title of this article, then you’re not thinking that at all. Regardless, this isn’t a movie about Time Lords; instead it’s a new romantic comedy from the director of “Love Actually” and “Pirate Radio.” Check out the first US trailer for it below.
“About Time” is being written and directed by Richard Curtis and stars Domhnall Gleeson as Tim, an awkward young lad who discovers from his father (Bill Nighy) that he has the ability to travel through time. Of course Tim wields the power with great responsibility by trying to dramatically improve his love life, that’s when he meets Mary (Rachel McAdams).
The trailer seems to hit all the requisite emotional notes that a romantic comedy would need to capture. That doesn’t mean to say that the film doesn’t stand out and look charming; it just feels a little formulaic albeit with a little bit of a twist. However, given the pedigree involved in the film, it’s likely destined to be another hit for Richard Curtis. The film debuts in US theaters on November 8th. Watch below.
Rachel McAdams needs to fire her handlers ASAP. The poor girl had so much potential.
