Those quiet religious types are always hiding a bit of crazy, aren’t they? Anyway, at least in “The Ledge” they are, as it centers as a Bible thumper who gets off-the-crucifix crazy when he finds out his wife is taking advantage of the pleasures of the secular flesh.
Let’s rewind a bit. The film stars Charlie Hunnam, Liv Tyler, Patrick Wilson and Terrence Howard and things get hot and heavy when the non-believing Hunnam declares that Tyler has a sexy mouth leading to all kinds of carnal desires. Wilson is Tyler’s husband whose God can’t help him when he goes berserk and next thing you know, Hunnam is up on a roof with Howard wondering why the hell he got all uppity about those “Iron Man” contracts. Yeah, it looks pretty bad all around.
Anyway, if you’re curious, the film goes On Demand on May 25th before doing a limited theatrical bow on June 29th. Full trailer below.
You don\’t even have to be Christian to be offended by it. I\’m offended by how awful it looks. What a waste of talented actors, they must have had mortgages to pay.
I agree with Stephen M.
Wow, does this look awful. And offensive to boot–not just because of the religious stereotype, though I take offense at that, but also because the obvious lift of at least one shot from Night of the Hunter. If you\’re going to homage a masterpiece, your film better be worthy of it.
That photo of Patrick Wilson is really going to pack them into theaters.
if you made patrick wilson\’s character gay and half-likable this would just be one narrative thread from angels in america.
