We’re pretty sure that this one will require at least one viewing under the influence of certain herbs and plants, but the full length trailer for Paramount‘s “Rango” has arrived and it looks like a total mindfuck. In a good way.
Details on the plot — if there really is one — are being guarded, with the only word on the film being the simple logline: “The story of a chameleon with an identity crisis.” There is also something about the titular character becoming a Sheriff. Whatever it is, it looks to be loads of very decidedly strange, loopy and off-the-wall fun. Certainly, something much, much different than the usual animated material aimed at kids and frankly, it has the ambition that we’d expect from Pixar not Paramount.
The Gore Verbinski directed film features a stacked voice cast that includes Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Bill Nighy, Stephen Root, Ray Winstone, Beth Grant, Ned Beatty, Harry Dean Stanton and Alfred Molina. “Rango” opens on March 4, 2011.
Whoa! What\’s Mumford & Sons music doing in there?!
Not sure if that\’s a good sign for the movie or not, but at least the trailer cutter has good taste.
Considering the success Verbinski had with the little Budweiser frogs, he should do well with this little green reptile as well. It\’s his return to his roots.
BUD! WEI! SER!
