Starring Anthony Mackie, Kerry Washington and Wendell Pierce, and featuring a score by The Roots, it’s nearly a crime that this one has been flying under the radar, but with a digital release a couple of weeks away and a theatrical bow in December we’re glad this one has come to our attention.
“Night Catches Us,” the feature length debut by Tanya Hamilton, takes place in 1976 and tells the story of Marcus (Mackie) a Black Panther member who mysteriously returns to his old neighborhood. Suspicions and tensions are raised by his return but he finds an ally in his friend Patricia (Washington). We definitely like what we see in the trailer, and the music by The Roots sounds great. No word yet if the score will get a standalone release.
The film will hit iTunes, On Demand, Playstation, Xbox Live, Amazon and Vudu on October 29th a full month before it hits theaters on December 3rd. [BV On Movies]
