While “Pootie Tang” is the directorial feature film that everyone likes to talk about when it comes to Louis C.K., that comedy wasn’t his first time at the rodeo. Three years earlier, in 1998, Louis C.K. went to the Sundance Film Festival with his debut feature “Tomorrow Night,” where it premiered, only to remain unreleased ever since. But this won’t be his “The Day The Clown Cried.” Instead, Louis C.K. is self-releasing the movie, and there’s no better time to catch up with trailer which has been knocking around the internet for a while now.
Featuring cameo appearances by J.B. Smoove, Wanda Sykes, Steve Carell and Conan O’Brien, the film is led by Chuck Sklar and Martha Greenhouse in the tale of a photo-shop owner and a lonely, elderly woman and… well, here’s the official synopsis to explain it all:
Tomorrow Night chronicles the loneliness of photo-shop owner Charles, an acerbic, repressed man with an unquenchable “taste” for ice cream. His energetic and overly cheerful postman Mel convinces him that what he really needs is womanly companionship. On the other side of town is Florence, a lonely old woman with a mean, vociferous husband. When Florence isn’t being tortured by her husband, she pines away for Billy, her son in the army who hasn’t written in twenty years and who makes Gomer Pyle look like Einstein. To top it off, the only friend Florence has is Tina, a sweet yet crude and scruffy young man who dresses in old-lady drag. Tina convinces Florence that maybe she needs a little extracurricular spice in her life. Enter Charles, who gets off on the thought of a clean and orderly household, and you have a match made in heaven. From there, things get even weirder.
And things do get weird, and this trailer spares none of it, promising an adventure for the most die hard of Louis C.K. fans. So, how can you watch it? Hit the comedian’s website tomorrow with five bucks, and it’s yours. Prepare in advance by watching the trailer below. [Film School Rejects]
Although this information is welcomed… I am curious as to why you didn't give Rick Shapiro the credit in the article.. but you can write a two-line description about his role… "the only friend Florence has is Tina (Rick Shapiro) , a sweet yet crude and scruffy young man who dresses in old-lady drag. Tina convinces Florence that maybe she needs a little extracurricular spice in her life. Rick Shapiro plays the role of 'Tina" .. and to date (1/8/2013) the release has not been confirmed on Louis CK's website.
