Got a Tip?

Watch: Trailer For ‘Frankie & Alice’ Reveals Halle Berry’s Racist Alter Ego

Just last week, we got a our first real look at Halle Berry in her Hail Mary attempt at awards season plaudits in “Frankie & Alice.” While the the 1970s-set drama centers on a young woman with a personality disorder (Berry) who struggles to contain her racist alter-ego, the early clips kept Frankie’s troubling other identity hidden.

However, a full length trailer for the film has now arrived and it gives us a clearer look at the picture and we can honestly say we’re not too excited. While everyone involved — Berry, Stellan Skarsgård, Chandra Wilson and Phylicia Rashad — seem to be doing a fine job, something about the spot makes it feel like a mental health drama we’ve seen before. We cringed at the cliché “Frankie’s not here” line and the alter-ego only seems to come out during moments guaranteed to generate high drama. Again, it could just be a spot packed for maximum sizzle but with five credited screenwriters and being directed by Geoffrey Sax (“White Noise,” “Alex Rider: Stormbreaker“) this one has a long way to go to convince us.

The film will hit theaters in NY/LA on December 17th, and will go wide February 4, 2011. You can check out the trailer after the jump. [Movielicious]
