Got a Tip?

Watch: Trailer For ‘Cairo Time’ Director Ruba Nadda’s Thriller ‘Inescapable’ Featuring Marisa Tomei With A Terrible Accent

nullWell, not everything that hits the festival circuit is going to be a winner, and some may have a steeper hill to climb to get some positive attention. Judging by the first trailer for "Inescapable," that may be the case for this film. Playing like an arthouse/indie "Taken," the first glimpse and handful of promo pics certainly suggest a movie that owes a bit of a nod to Liam Neeson.

Written and directed by Ruba Nadda, who is returning following her sleeper hit "Cairo Time," the film stars Alexander Siddig ("Kingdom Of Heaven," "Syriana"), Joshua Jackson and Marisa Tomei — sporting an embarrassing accent — in the film about a father's search for his daughter in the Middle East. Here's the official synopsis: One afternoon, on a typical day at work, Adib is confronted with devastating news: His eldest daughter, Muna, has gone missing in Damascus. Now Adib, who has not been back in over 30 years, must return to Syria and deal with his secret past in order to find her. Inescapable is a thriller about a father’s desperate search for his daughter and the chaos of the Middle East he left behind.

Maybe this is just the way the movie is being sold, and not the tone of the final product? We'll soon find out as the film makes its World Premiere at TIFF, but so far, first impressions are not great. "Inescapable" will be distributed in Canada by Alliance Films, but no U.S. shingle is on board just yet. Watch below. [HeyUGuys]
