The Cannes Film Festival lineup is just around the corner, and one movie we’re banking on making an appearance is the sophomore feature film directorial effort from Tommy Lee Jones, “The Homesman.” The first trailer is here, and it’s promising stuff.
Starring Jones himself, alongside Hilary Swank with Meryl Streep, Hailee Steinfeld, Jesse Plemons, Tim Blake Nelson, William Fichtner, John Lithgow, Miranda Otto, James Spader and more, in a pioneer-era tale that follows a woman (Swank) who hires an outlawed man (Jones), after saving his life, in an attempt to usher three mentally unstable women from Nebraska to Iowa on an odyssey that will have them braving the elements and no shortage of danger every step of the way. For the most part, this looks like a good ol’ fashioned widescreen oater with what looks like some striking imagery and an array of memorable characters. We’re intrigued.
No release details yet, but the film drops overseas on May 21st, so verdicts will be in soon enough. Watch below. [First Showing]
i have to agree Yer, Three Burials…was excellent! Rob, Blood Meridian and Tommy Lee Jones is a marriage beyond comparison….no one loves that book more than mister Jones.
wow, that looks great. the world needs more jones westerns. maybe direct a trilogy of films from cormac mcarthy's blood meridian?
What's the music in the trailer called?
Had no idea he was making another film. The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada is one of the most underrated films of recent memory.
