Squeeee! No one (bar perhaps Benedict Cumberbatch) gets Tumblr in a tizzy more than Tom Hiddleston right now. The British actor won legions of fans thanks to his performances in Joanna Hogg’s films and Terence Davies’ “The Deep Blue Sea” (and apparently a villainous turn in a superhero movie of some kind), but he’s now moving up a gear: he’s got two blockbuster leads on the way with “Crimson Peak” and “Kong: Skull Island,” and has two movies at the just-underway TIFF.
We’re particularly intrigued by Ben Wheatley’s “High-Rise,” but perhaps even more of a leap for the actor is “I Saw The Light,” which sees Hiddleston playing legendary country singer Hank Williams, a rather unexpected casting choice. And the actor himself has just debuted the first look at his version of Williams, unveiling a clip from the movie on his Twitter.
The clip sees Hiddleston’s Williams recording the song “Move It On Over,” and also gives a glimpse at the actor’s real-life love Elizabeth Olsen, who plays his wife. So what do we think? Does Hiddleston pull off a very American role? You can take a look at the footage below, stay tuned for our verdict on the movie, and check the film as a whole out on November 27th.
It gives me great pleasure to introduce the first clip from I SAW THE LIGHT. @TIFF_NET tomorrow! #MoveItOnOver

Ditto what W wrote on September 10. Interested in movies, and who\’s with whom professionally and creatively, not personally.
omg girls, he\’s not going to date you, why do you care who he\’s with? Please don\’t taint the Hiddleston fandom with the kind of insanity we see with Benedict Cumberbatch and the way his wife is treated, or the way Kristen Stewart fans tweet hate at FKA twigs, simply because she\’s Robert Pattinson\’s choice. Elizabeth and Tom have been dating for a long time, it\’s no wonder they try to avoid the paps and tabloids, they can see how the wives and girlfriends of other actors are treated by certain "fans." Just be happy he has someone who makes him happy. As for the clip, he does a great job with the song, it\’s great to see him expand his range this way, can\’t wait to see the movie in Nov.
I\’ll say leave the gossip out and just report the movie related news. I like Indiewire better when it\’s a trade site not a gossip column.
"real-life love Elizabeth Olsen"? Perhaps you should wait and see if they confirm what\’s been nothing but rumors for 6 months. There\’s been no evidence that anything is going on.
Tom did a fine job in this clip and should be proud of his hard work…
