There are few shows on cable right now as flawed as "The Newsroom," but also few as utterly compelling. The Aaron Sorkin-penned drama has its problems, but it’s always one of the most entertaining things to watch on TV, though that all ends with the third and final season. A new trailer reveals what big, juicy headline story they’ll tackle this time out.
And it’s the Boston Marathon bombing that Will McAvoy and company will dive into. As you see in the promo, it’s almost the perfect vehicle for this show that has long explored the eroding line between journalism and reporting, which are two very different things. With much of the Boston story playing out in social media and online, it raises interesting questions about how the media took it on. Meanwhile, the more wobbly aspects of the show have to do with the actual relationships between characters, and it doesn’t look much better here. But maybe we wouldn’t have it any other way.
"The Newsroom" is back on Sunday, November 9th. Watch below. [EW]
Why would they air a show that\’s intelligent requiring, at the very least, a normal IQ, when there are Housewives of \’wherever\’ and Hawaii Five-O? Geez, I better go catch up on Utopia now that I think about it…
Shame they\’re nixing a smart show
This show is still on? Didn\’t House of Cards make this completely irrelevant?
