With one month left to go before J.J. Abrams raises the final curtain on “Star Trek Into Darkness,” a brand new trailer for the film is here providing yet another look at the highly anticipated sequel that will see the villain not coming from the furthest reaches of space…but from within the Academy itself….
Benedict Cumberbatch is as menacing as ever, but perhaps the biggest takeaway is what Abrams does with one of the most iconic images in the franchise. The Enterprise takes a thorough beating in this trailer, with Simon Pegg declaring, “The ship’s dead!” It seems Captain Kirk and co. get lured into a fatal trap, but as always this is Abrams and we’re seeing what he wants us to. And undoubtedly there is a whole lot more to come once we get to theaters. But the idea of The Enterprise falling horrifically out the sky — the symbol of Kirk and and his crew’s common cause, and the longstanding image of the franchise as a whole — is pretty striking.
“Star Trek Into Darkness” opens everywhere on May 17th. Watch below.

you think? you really think there's more? i figured there was no reason to go to the movie after seeing trailers, but if you say so.
i'm glad i read the playlist
benedict cumberbatch really knows his way around the evil yet dashing thing.
This is looking better and better as a sci-fi actioner but feels less and less like Star Trek.

Apart from the fact it's already been done in Star Trek III The Search for Spock and Star Trek Generations.
