Watch: ‘The Dirty Dozen’ Meets The ‘Suicide Squad’ In This Thrilling Trailer Mashup

Suicide SquadThe gang, the pals, the crime-fighters, the cohorts, the team that sticks together are film staples, particularly in the action genre (see: "The Avengers" or the Nazi-fighting soldiers in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Basterds”). Lee Marvin led the infamous “Dirty Dozen” group back in Robert Aldrich’s 1967 film, and our friends at Vulture have envisioned the ‘Dozen’ in perhaps a perfect pairing with the forthcoming "Suicide Squad."

That’s right — Harley Quinn, The Joker, Slipknot, and all the other disgruntled, misunderstood members of David Ayer’s highly-anticipated, social-media darling are mashedup in this video characters from Aldrich’s classic. The Squad embodies a similar backstory to the Dozen (Viola Davis taking over the omnipresent Lee Marvin role), with the wrong-doers all taking on missions that are too dangerous for your typical everyday soldier. Expertly cut by Ezequiel López, the palpitating scenes juxtaposing the ’60s music is a hoot. “Suicide Squad” has been receiving scads of attention, with photos of Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, and Will Smith circulating for months, maybe this video can help hold you over a little bit longer until the movie is released next summer.
