Watch: ‘The Bourne Legacy’ Unveils Three New TV Spots

null

The buzz right now might all be about "The Amazing Spider-Man" — poised to earn a possible six-day total of $140 million by Sunday night — and "The Dark Knight Rises."  But patiently waiting in the wings is "The Bourne Legacy," Universal's latest entry in the Operation Treadstone/Black Briar saga which focuses on CIA-trained assassins such as Jason Bourne.

But with screenwriter/director Tony Gilroy ("Michael Clayton") at the helm (he was also the writer and architect of the first three 'Bourne' films), 'Legacy' veers away from the series' story which has thus far centered on Jason Bourne. 'Legacy' begins with the the public and political fallout from the events of "The Bourne Ultimatum" and how that echoes out into the world. In "The Bourne Legacy" the CIA decides to shut down Operation Outcome, the successor to Operation Treadstone, and Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner), an Outcome operative, and Stephanie Snyder (Rachel Weisz), a doctor who helped create the Outcome agents, must find a way to escape before the CIA  can have them assassinated. The picture also stars Edward Norton as agent Byer, a CIA architect whose character allegiances are much more complex than a simple antagonist's.

The action thriller also stars Albert Finney, Joan Allen, Scott Glenn, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac.  "The Bourne Legacy" opens in theaters on August 10th, and you can all watch all three spots in one player below.

  1. This looks promisng. I love the cast, especially Norton & Renner, & like the fact that Tony Gilroy in helming it. After "The Town", Renner has been underused. It's a smart move not recasting him as Bourne. There's plenty of room in this convoluted & exciting for another agent like Renner's "Cross" & it sets up an explosive showdown between "Cross" & "Bourne" if Damon & Greengrass come back aboard a 4th & 3rd go round if this film works as well as it looks it that might.

  2. "I think this is going to be a huge flop. Jeremy Renner is just as untested as Taylor Kitsch. There's as much reason to think people will come out for this as did for Jim Carrey-less "Dumb & Dumber" and "The Mask" sequels. I wish them the best though and if reviews are good, I'll see it."…………
