Got a Tip?

Watch: Surprisingly Epic Trailer Lands For ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’; Writer Already Talking Sequel

nullWe have to admit, on paper, "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" sounds a bit ridiculous as far as historical/genre mashups go. But the film has quietly been building buzz thanks to some edgy stills released over the past few weeks, and production's focus less on big name stars, and more on character actors to bring the story to life. While we'll have to see if Benjamin Walker is a name that will get audiences to buy a ticket this summer, this new trailer debuted at Time may be all they need to fill out multiplex screens.

Sure, using the intro of Johnny Cash's "When The Man Comes Around" gets you instant gravitas, but damn if this teaser doesn't drop some truly eye-opening vistas, the highlight easily being the race across the top of a trains as it rolls over a collapsing bridge with a blaze underneath. And it seems there is a lot of confidence from the team behind with writer Seth Grahame-Smith recently telling Screen Rant, a sequel isn't out of the question. “The short answer is yes, absolutely," he said. "If you read the book there’s an epilogue that leaves things open to that. In the film, without giving anything away, we don’t definitively end the origin story. We leave, not only a mentor story, but also possibly a Lincoln story open.” It's always good to have options.

Anyway, get a taste of what's to come below along with these new images courtesty of HeyUGuys. And if you need every more, here's a "CBS This Morning" news segment on the movie via Shock Til You Drop. The Tim Burton produced, Timur Bekmambetov directed film arrives on June 22nd.

  1. I wouldn't expect The Playlist to point out that….

The Washington Monument wasn't completed until 1885, 20 years after…Lincoln's death.

Yeah, the movie is silly fantasy, but at least follow basic American history. Don't just throw landmarks into a blender because they look "really cool" and "epic." So lazy.

  2. Yeah. Way to give in to the onset of the Idiocracy, Playlist. The word "epic" doesn't excuse you from taking a stand against tripe of this stench. Plant some balls and sprout them quick.

In only American filmgoers and critics in the 1960s and 1970s could see what was in store from Hollywood in 2012.
