Last night was the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, a weird annual tradition where the press, celebrities and politicians get together and party and forget about the complete inefficiency of government. And this year, it seems Hollywood came out in force, and of the most talked about highlights this morning involves “Lincoln” director Steven Spielberg, another presidential biopic, and perhaps the greatest transformation yet by Daniel Day-Lewis.
The director revealed he’s working on “Obama,” and shared a behind-the-scenes look at the movie, with Day-Lewis explaining the difficulty of turning into Barack Obama. It’s meta, amusing stuff, though a cameo moment with the actor playing Joe Biden is thoroughly wasted and shoulda been milked a bit more. Either way, a little Sunday morning diversion to go with your coffee. Watch below. [Deadline]
The Correspondents Dinner is a large incestuous gathering were those people who are supposed to speak truth to power (i.e. journalists) and people we look up to (i.e. actors and directors) drink wine and filet mignon with the most powerful people in the world, people that have passed laws to detain anyone with out trial, bailout banks with no strings attached, and sign gross free trade agreements. But it's funny, yeahhhh! Haha. Let's laugh at all the post-modern ironic jabbing and chuckling! These people are making everyone's lives worse in America for their own gain. Do you not see any problem with this video/dinner? Guys read or watch "Manufacturing Consent" please. You might learn something.
Very funny! Thanks for the chuckle to start my week. Daniel Day-Lewis can do anything, Obama, no problem!
This proves what a lot of people believe, Barack Obama is the greatest actor of all time. Hilarious.
Funny!!
