Got a Tip?

Watch: Stephen Merchant’s Awkward Best Man Speech In Clip From ‘I Give It A Year’

nullIt may not have a U.S. release date yet (or even a distributor for that matter) but we’re still looking forward to the British rom-com “I Give It A Year.” The film is Dan Mazer’s first as director (after a string of writing credits on Sacha Baron Cohen’s TV shows and movies) and stars Rafe Spall and Rose Byrne as a couple exploring the trials and tribulations that occur during their first year of marriage. The cast also boasts Anna Faris, Simon Baker, Jason Flemyng, Minnie Driver and – as you’ll see from the following clip – Stephen Merchant.

The latest clip from the movie unsurprisingly comes from the film’s first proper scene, and it features Merchant’s Danny delivering a very inappropriate Best Man’s speech. If you’ve watched any of the trailers for the movie then you’ll have seen a few of the gags from this sequence already, but it’s well worth watching in its entirety.

The film is due for release in the UK on February 8th so the promotional push for the movie is really starting to pick up some steam. Hopefully if it performs well either critically or commercially in its native country then it might be able to snag a North American release – and you’d have to imagine that a wedding comedy starring Rose Byrne wouldn’t be the hardest thing to market.
