Can Terrence Malick‘s work be broken up into Vine-sized clips? Should it be? Broad Green Pictures thinks it’s a good way to in promoting the director’s latest look at life, spirituality, and more, and a couple brief new teasers have landed.
A walk on the beach with Cate Blanchett, hands in water, and narration provide the quick new look at "Knight Of Cups," which tells the story of man adrift in Hollywood and facing a personal crisis amidst the good times and dark alleys of the city. Here’s the official synopsis:
Knight of Cups follows Rick (Christian Bale), an uninspired screenwriter living on the event horizon of all the vice, and some of the virtues, Los Angeles has to offer. He is a slave to the Hollywood system; addicted to success but simultaneously despairing at the emptiness of his life. With the death of his brother Billy hanging over him, and his surviving, down-on-his-luck brother, Rick seeks distraction in the company of women. Women seem to know him better than he knows himself, bringing him closer to the heart of things, closer to understanding his place. And while the parties, the dalliances, and the career remain unfulfilling – each woman, each man he’s met through the course of his life has served him in some way as a guide, a messenger. This visceral journey through one man’s City of Angels has just begun.
"Knight Of Cups" opens on March 4th. Watch below.
I love the experimental nature of neo-Malick. love the cinematography, the music, the vibe, etc. what i can\’t get over is the sophomoric voice-overs and lack of enticing dialogue. my favorite scenes in The Thin Red Line were the dialogue scenes between Sean Penn and Jim Caviezel. i\’d rate this one better than To the Wonder but not as good as any of the others.
Cate\’s part is the only respite in this otherwise chaotic film…
