With Spike Lee‘s Kickstarter campaign closed and fully funded, we can now turn our attention back to his immediate next effort, the remake of Park Chan-Wook‘s “Oldboy.” And while the verdict is still out as to whether or not an American studio version of the bonkers original can even land in the same ballpark, it’s safe to say that Lee isn’t holding back in the slightest.
A few new snaps from the movie have landed today, but most impressively of them all is the first look at Samuel L. Jackson‘s character, who will play a crucial part in the revenge flick. It marks the first time Lee and Jackson have worked together since “Jungle Fever,” but they made the most of it. As you’ll see in the brief video below, Lee reveals that for the actor’s appearance in the movie, “…we came with something he’s never done before.” And yep, we definitely haven’t see Jackson with a yellow mohawk or an interest in knitting, apparently.
Another tantalizing tease from the flick that won’t be arriving until November 27th. Until then, check out the brief Lee video and a couple new snaps.
