If you don’t know the name Jason Momoa, you probably soon will. THR reports that movie theater industry folk are set to give the actor (a somewhat premature) CinemaCon Rising Star Award on March 31. Clearly, they think this guy has got the goods and they’ll be hoping his mane of hair and big muscles will be a draw when “Conan The Barbarian” opens later this year.
A teaser trailer has arrived for the film and it’s pretty funny in how straight-faced it is. In the embers of a CGI fire we see scenes from the movie, while a Trailer Guy Voice deeply intones some stuff we’ve already forgotten. Than Jason Momoa makes a funny little speech. The end. Yeah, this definitely won’t be high art, but we’re at least hoping it’ll be a guilty pleasure good time. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

That \”funny little speech\” is a paraphrase from one of the original Conan stories by Robert E. Howard, and frankly, I don\’t see what makes \”crush your enemies\” so astronomically superior, beyond simple nostalgia.
I\’m not defending the horrible teaser, or even the film as a whole, but that one line is truer to Conan than the Genghis Khan swipe ever was.
Guys, this is simply a teaser and not meant to give away plot or much substance as far as characters go. It is meant to simply get us excited/talking about the film. It is a successful teaser, whether or not you are going to see this film.
As a side note, to those who are complaining about this being another \’annoying re-make\’, everyone should understand that is NOT a remake, it\’s a re-adaptation. From what I\’ve read, this film will be more accurate to Robert E. Howard\’s original stories.
I for one, cannot wait to see this film.
I\’m glad movies like this continue to come out. Though I\’m a straight male I think it\’s cool that the female form isn\’t the only one objectified on screen. So what if the plot of this movie is that this guy has abs? I\’m ok with that, and I hope women and gay men (in addition to the fanboys this is targeted towards) continue supporting this genre.
I\’m not going to see it myself, per se, but I can still appreciate its existence.
First of all either of you haven\’t seen the movie yet, and secondly dont go see it when the movie (CONAN) hits the theaters, but stop being so hateful and jealous. GET A LIFE probably FAT LOSERS.
