Watch: ‘Siskel & Ebert’ Review ‘Goodfellas’; Martin Scorsese’s Classic Getting 4K Remastered Blu-Ray Release

GoodfellasWords like "classic" and "masterpiece" get thrown around a lot, but if anyone puts those monikers on Martin Scorsese‘s "Goodfellas," you can’t really argue. His 1990 gangland drama is one of the great American films of the era, one of Scorsese’s best pictures, and, aside from "The Godfather," one of the pinnacle pieces of cinema about life in organized crime. You’ve probably watched it more than a few times, and if you catch it on cable, you know your plans are getting delayed, because you’re going sit down and finish it. Now there’s another reason to revisit the film.

Warner Bros. has announced a 25th anniversary 2-disc Blu-ray edition that has been given a spiffy new 4K remastering, from the original camera negative. The extras include an all new documentary featuring Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Jack Nicholson, and Joe Pesci discussing working with Scorsese, a 36-page book, and a letter written by the director. What else could you want?

"Goodfellas" hits the streets on May 5th, so until then, check out this vintage review from "Siskel & Ebert." And yes, they gave it two very enthusiastic thumbs up. [Blu-ray]

  1. did i just spend 5 minutes reading an informercial? this is what wrong with the internet. "writers" like you spamming it with garbage for the sole purpose of financial gains.

  2. God, you\’d think they would have given it a classier looking cover! The color scheme/air brushing makes de Niro and Liotta look like a couple of CSI detectives working the evidence.
