You can’t really blame Steven Soderbergh if he’d rather not make feature films. With bigger storytelling canvases and more creative freedom, television is the place to be right now, and as a viewer, there’s no shortage of shows to spend entire weekends getting lost in. So you can excuse me if I’m as excited about "The Last Panthers" as any movie coming along in the next few months.

Starring Samantha Morton, Tahar Rahim, Goran Bogdan, and John Hurt, and directed by Johan Renck ("Bloodline," "Breaking Bad," "The Walking Dead"), the six-part series details the attempt to recover diamonds stolen during a daring heist, with the story based on the notorious real-life Pink Panther gang. It looks like terrific stuff and it already earns bonus points for landing theme music penned by none other than David Bowie. Rad.
“The piece of music he laid before us embodied every aspect of our characters and the series itself – dark, brooding, beautiful and sentimental (in the best possible incarnation of this word). All along, the man inspired and intrigued me and as the process passed, I was overwhelmed with his generosity. I still can’t fathom what actually happened,” Renck said (via Fact).
"The Last Panther" debuts overseas on November 12th. No word yet on when it lands stateside, but here’s hoping it’s not far behind.
I expect it\’ll land stateside roughly 20-30 minutes after it finishes airing in the UK
Also, love Samantha Morton, but that header pic up top is so absurdly photoshopped. It\’s been a while since Morton has looked anything like that… I\’m not even sure that isn\’t really mid-90\’s Emily Watson.
