Watch: Saddle Up With The First Trailer For ‘Slow West’ Starring Michael Fassbender & Kod Smit-McPhee

Slow WestThe bromance between Michael Fassbender and former Beta Band member turned director John Maclean was first forged on the shorts "Man On A Motorcycle" and the award winning "Pitch Black Heist." Now it has blossomed into the feature length "Slow West," and the first trailer is here.

Co-starring Kodi Smit-McPhee, Ben Mendelsohn, and Caren Pistorius, the story follows a mysterious drifter who teams with a 16 year-old, to help the young man cross the American frontier in search of the woman he loves. It’s a movie that impressed our man on the ground at Sundance, who says it has a "thrilling and explosive ending with a high body count, but with heart and soul, too" and he commends the "dark, but spirited fable."

"Slow West" gallops to the Tribeca Film Festival next and will be available exclusively on DirecTV April 16th before going into theaters and VOD  on May 15th. Watch below.

  1. You don\’t have to worship Fassbender, but to claim that he was giving the same performance in X-Men, Shame, and 12 Years a Slave is so stupid I want to believe you\’re just trolling. Actors don\’t have to transform their physical appearance to play a different character, you know. And check out A Dangerous Method, Hunger, and Prometheus for more range.

  2. It does look like a Wes Anderson film, only it would have more red and yellow in it. I will enjoy this, but with A24 doing the distribution, don\’t count on it being in theaters for long, they\’re still trying to figure out how to do their jobs. And yes, Fassy is wildly overrated, based on his looks. He\’s no Bale or Phoenix, that\’s for sure. He doesn\’t even look like he\’s created a character in this, he\’s just going for a natural performance but I see nothing extraordinary from him in this trailer. He\’s not one of the best actors of his generation. Good, but not great.

  3. Fassbender has always been an overrated actor in my opinion. He\’s fine, but he\’s no Christian Bale, Joaquin Phoenix, Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling, Michael Shannon… that\’s for sure.

  4. Fassbender looks and sounds just the same as he did in XMen, Shame, 12 Years, etc. Where is this range everyone talks about. Will he do the same thing in Macbeth & Jobs film?
