Watch: Robert Redford Is On The Run From Shia LaBeouf In New Trailer For ‘The Company You Keep’

nullWhat are moral and ethical lines of digging into someone's past, particularly someone who might have been affiliated with a horrible action, but all in the name of the greater good? These seem to be the thematic tangles that Robert Redford will look to uncover in his latest directorial effort, "The Company You Keep." And a brand new trailer has arrived showing off a mix of ideals and thrills coming for you this spring.

Shia LaBeouf stars as a crackerjack young reporter who explores the past of Redford's character, a former activist who is now living a straight life as a doting Dad and responsible citizen. But when one of his colleagues is arrested, he's forced to go on the run and LaBeouf is faced with making his career on the back of a man who may have done the right thing at the wrong time. It's potentially intriuging, but our man at TIFF faulted the film, calling it a "vanity project/unconvincing bit of agitprop" noting that "nobody but diehard fans…want to be mildly lectured."

But it's hard to deny a cast that includes Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Stephen Root, Nick Nolte, Chris Cooper, Anna Kendrick, Terrence Howard and Brit Marling so we'll be watching anyway. "The Company You Keep" opens on April 5th. Trailer below followed by the international poster.

  1. I'm a huge Redford fan, and this looks pretty damn good in my book. That cast is insane (you had me with Julie Christie) and despite the review linked here, I hope it does well.
