You might want to sit down for this one: Mr. Peanut now has a voice and it belongs to Tony Stark aka Robert Downey Jr.
In a marketing coup for Kraft, they’ve landed the actor to voice, for the first time in history, the dapper mascot for Planters peanuts. The effort is part of a branding makeover that will apparently make the product more relatable, because if there is anything we care about, its that we identify with the wacky characters on product packaging when we’re out shopping for snacks for a boozy party we’re not going to remember anything about when we wake up the next morning.
Anyway, check out the spot after the jump. Turns out Mr. Peanut has a questionable array of hangers-ons at Christmas parties at his house. But you know what? As far as voice casting goes, this one isn’t too bad so a Don Draper-style bit of begrudging recognition to whoever dreamed this up.
