Product placement in movies is nothing new, but has there ever been a teaser trailer so obviously constructed as a piece of advertising as the one for "Resident Evil: Retribution"?
As for the quality of the film, this far into the franchise, you basically know what you're getting. Milla Jovovich as always looking hot in tight leather/spandex/whatever, and this time around, Michelle Rodriguez is back or something. Whatever. Except, half of this thing is an embarrasing real/fake ad for Sony stuff set to "Baba O'Riley" by The Who. A couple branded mobile phones, a PS Vita, and an iPad-style device all get their closeups for half of the eighty second spot, before we get any footage from the movie. Guess Sony's electronics arm is really struggling. But hey, good work on the corporate synergy there, guys!
Anyway, this will be in 3D (obvs) and will probably make enough bank at the box office to guarantee a sixth movie and keep Paul W.S. Anderson forever employed. 'Retribution' opens on September 14th.
So this will be a companion to Resident Evil 6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sS_bGpe9qE8&feature=channel_video_title
Yo dawg, we heard you like watching commercials. So we put a commercial in your commercial so you can watch commercials while you watch commercials.
I don't know what's worse…..the massive "We Love Sony" dick riding session that started this fucking trailer or their half ass reworking of Daft Punk's "The Game Has Changed"…..I'll be sure to bring a couple "shorties" of Jack Daniels to go with my large coke when I watch this….
