Dancing around a controversy spurred by homophobic author Orson Scott Card, and continuing to remain somewhat of a question mark among the remaining blockbusters of the year, it could be argued that “Ender’s Game” still has a considerable mountain to climb. But tomorrow will mark the start of the last major push for the movie with the unveiling of the final trailer (which means that you’re going to see this spot on repeat in cinemas forever, or at least it will feel like that between now and November).
“Hugo” star Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley star in the movie about young kids hustled in an advance military school to prepare for an alien invasion. And the film, directed by Gavin Hood (of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” infamy) is certainly promising some spectacle, with all kinds of sci-fi/out space wonderment, Ford growling as per usual and explosions, too. But whether it all adds up or not, or can court an audience, remains to be seen. But the journey starts here.
“Ender’s Game” arrives on November 1st. Watch below, and stay tuned for the brand new trailer dropping at noon tommorrow.
I don't care about the "push" to get Ender's Game "out there" in the public's eye. Card cannot escape his 30 plus years of anti-gay rants. He's even called for the overthrow of our government if it allows gays and lesbians to marry. That's too much. This movie is poisonous and we don't need to give him more money. And that's what this is about: making as much MONEY as possible. It's like going to see a movie made by Joseph Mengele or the Grand Wizard of the KKK. You can't hide the fact that Card is a very disturbed man and his hatred has flowed over into his writing. Ugh. Not for me.
