Not since Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake have we had someone find such a clever way to utilize a box, but here we are. Pizza Hut is officially making movie history with the very first pizza projector box. Why? Who knows? But it’s one hell of a marketing strategy. The box was designed by Oglivy Hong Kong — the only country this is available in right now — and it features a perforated hole on the side. All you need to have is a smartphone in order for the projector to work.
Inside the box is a specifically designed little pizza table that features a lens on top. You punch a hole in the box, then place the lens in the hole. There is a code on the back of the box that you scan with your phone and that downloads a movie. Once you have the movie loaded, you place the phone on the pizza table inside the box, facing the lens, and that projects your movie. Four different movies comes with each box/QR code. The boxes are labeled as such: “Slice Night” (horror), “Anchovy Armageddon” (science-fiction), “Hot & Ready” (romance), “Fully Loaded” (action).
Of course, there is only one drawback in this entire occasion and that would be having to eat Pizza Hut pizza while watching these movies. Kind of a deal breaker. Ah, who are we kidding? We’re definitely trying this. [The Verge]
