While we wait to see what Paul Thomas Anderson will be making next following “Inherent Vice” (maybe “Pinocchio“?) he has re-teamed with a pal from his Thomas Pynchon adaptation and shot a new music video.
The excellent Joanna Newsom has announced today that she’s got a new album on the way, Divers, and this morning has released the first single, “Sapokanikan.” PTA got behind the camera for the video which is simple, yet effective, following Newsom as she walks through the streets of New York City.
Divers hits stores on October 23rd. Watch below.
Joanna Newsom is so talented and an amazing performer, so it\’s unbelievably frustrating how trash her songs are. It\’s like FKA twigs – talented, interesting personality, trash music.
digital?
A big fan of the glorious cinematography – take a film camera anywhere & set the right exposure & you\’ve got a magical image – but not so hot on the song itself. Maybe I\’ll play this again sometime with the sound off.
can we stop making videos in the style of coca-cola adverts already.
Ok, I tend to like unconventional vocalists (The Velevt Underground, Bob Dylan, Bjork, Animal Collective)–but seriously, how can anyone listen to this? It\’s hideous and unrelenting. I had to turn it off after three minutes of staring in horror.
