While some of The Playlist team didn’t take to “Role Models” right away, it has quickly become a repeat watch for many of us (seriously, it’s worth giving another shot — the movie is absolutely hilarious, packed with all kinds of subtle, funny moments). Now the “Role Models” helmer, David Wain, is back with his followup and while the trailer for “Wanderlust” might not match the belly laughs of his previous effort, this still has a lot of promise to keep us optimistic.
Starring Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston, the David Wain directed, Judd Apatow produced film centers on a married couple (Aniston, Rudd) who are forced by circumstance to leave their New York City life behind and spend time on a hippie dippy, tree-hugging commune. Malin Akerman, Ray Liotta, Alan Alda, Justin Theroux and Ken Marino (who co-wrote the script) round out the strong supporting cast, and while this trailer is a bit bland and lifeless, there is something to remember. This is an R-rated comedy, so we’re guessing that a filthier red band take will give a truer sense of the tone of the film. And truthfully, the original theatrical trailer for “Role Models” was not indicative of the film at all. And certainly, the fish out of water premise does hold some definite potential.
Anyhow, we’ll see how this all plays out when the film opens on February 24, 2012. And oh yeah, Shudder To Think frontman Craig Wedren scored the film. Watch below.
I apologize. I meant to say : Will Paul Rudd ever decide to stretch his talent and explore his artistry ? This guy is always going the safe route. Rudd continues to give the same one-note / charming performance. It is beyond tiring.

Given his career, it should be a crime refering to David Wain as \”The director of Role Models\”
P.S. Not that I only laugh at jokes about dicks. I also like Rudd\’s delivery of \”I got fired\” and his horrible driving skills.
I did enjoy a hearty chuckle at the R.Kelly song line. Looks promising enough for me ^_^
I expect greatness from Wain/Marino/Rudd. I know you what you mean about the slight blandness, but I LOL\’d a lot. \”Lick the tip…flick the tip,\” \”oh yes, we noticed your penis earlier,\” etc.
oh my god its the word-tea guy?Q!?
