If the Oscars ditched the usual razzle dazzle opening number this year, they still brought the music with Best Song nominees getting their chance to shine with live performances. But it wasn’t always the songs that got the most attention.
You likely already know about John Travolta introducing Idina Menzel as Adele Dazim (yep, already has a Twitter account) in one of the show’s most unintentionally “glorious” moments. But the singer shook it off and belted out “Let It Go” from “Frozen” (which won the award) like it was the last thing on Earth she was gonna do. We love Karen O and Ezra Koenig, but their acoustic, intimate “The Moon Song” felt out of place in the ceremonies and almost put us to sleep. Meanwhile, Pharrell and his big hat made everyone dance with “Happy.”
And that wasn’t all during the evening, with Pink singing “Over The Rainbow” in a tribute to “The Wizard Of Oz.”
Anyway, if you missed them or were watching “True Detective” or doing anything else, we’ve got ’em all below. [Rickey]
