As David Simon showed with "The Wire" across five seasons, he can mix complex drama, politics, social themes, and so much more into excellent, must-see viewing. And while you’ll have to wait until next week for our full review, he does it again with "Show Me A Hero," his brand new miniseries for HBO.
Oscar Isaac leads the true story drama as Nick Wasicsko, the mayor of Yonkers, who is tasked with implementing legally mandated low income housing, against the protests of a very vocal, and affluent, citizenry. Simon, together with "Crash" director Paul Haggis, do terrific work, weaving a fascinating tapestry of rich characters in a story that views all the angles. Here’s the official synopsis:
