Got a Tip?

Watch: Official Trailer For ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ Asks You To Accept (We Do)

As we expected, after a bootleg copy of the French version leaked over the weekend, a fresh official version has now landed and yes, “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol” looks like a supercharged blast.

Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt, and finds an uneasy ally in Jeremy Renner with Paula Patton, Josh Holloway, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg as the good guys, with Michael Nyqvist, Anil Kapoor, Lea Seydoux and Vladimir Mashkov as the villains. One bit of casting we didn’t know about — Tom Wilkinson — who appears will just be showing up to get the plot in motion. Also noteworthy is the credit to Christopher McQuarrie who we didn’t realize was involved with the script by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec and we’re guessing he was brought in for some rewrite work leading to his name on the film. Certainly, he and Cruise are fast friends as he’s penned “Valkyrie,” a draft of “Top Gun 2” and the Jack Reacher thriller “One Shot” with the actor eyeing the role.

Anyway, enough of us talking about it, check it out for yourself below along with some new pics from the film. The trailer will unspool in front of “Transformers: The Dark Of The Moon” and the film hits on on December 16th.

  1. Brad Bird is directing this. He directed, arguably, the two best Pixar movies and the Iron Giant. There\’s a chance it can actually be good! It\’s the only reason I\’m looking forward to it. Plus, it would be interesting seeing a established animation director try something else. Google

  2. Given the hype the other day, I thought I was going to flip for this.

The scope of 4 looks bigger, but in this age of computer generated armies, that really doesn\’t mean much. It\’s just a bigger stack of counterfeit hundred dollar bills. Hollywood hasn\’t figured that out yet.

3 had a much better trailer.

  3. Well, not interested at all. This won\’t be something I will waste the money on. I agree with \”shame on bird\”, they summed up most of what I was thinking. I agree with, \”Trent\”, this story has been done to death already. I also agree with \” Piotr\”. (You 3 are great, I didn\’t have to write that much because you already stated most of what I was thinking – except …..) Hey, did you see Cruise\’s main co-star?? Yes, his \”huge ego\” is also co-starring in the movie. In fact 3/4s of the trailer is Cruise and his ego friend. Wow, who would have guessed. More scenes of his co-stars performing in the movie – would have been the better way to go. This film appears to be all Cruise – so I will have to pass .

  4. I found the trailer incredibly get it? disappointing and uninspired. Why would Brad Bird go from working as a household name at Pixar to directing this pointless dud? And what about this film shown in the trailer is original and exciting? The last shot is borrowed from Die Hard for pete sake. Oh I get it the building is taller. The zooming luxury car shots are borrowed from Iron Man. The close call with the car at the end is borrowed from Live Free or Die Hard. Bird must be depressed.

What\’s strange is how nobody recalls what they like about the franchise or its missions. In Bond movies you can recall the femme fatales and the villains. Mission Impossible is in theory about a team. In actuality it\’s dumb promotion for Cruise to make sure a world audience knows he\’s young and athletic. Play the theme song jingle to hypnotize them into thinking it\’s a movie.

  5. \”mission:impossible-game over\”. where is the wife? what year is this?long hair again?. We need a MI reboot ….I choose… director Andrew Dominik. The team: Phoenix, Scarlett, Tom Hardy, Anthony Mackie. The boss: Helen Mirren and Niels Arestrup. The Villains: Actors of Europe, Latinamerican and Asia. Stily shoot: Robert Altman. Basic Place: first 50 mins Manchester night and Florida hangover. Last 60 minutes in Marsella and the Galibier+ Alpe Dhuez. Plot: Nanotecnology. The McGuffin: Premier League soccer trades. Budget: 118 millions. Special Cameo: Lebron James. MI SONG: Jacques Dutronc. Premiere: August 5, 2014. Thanx!

  6. Well, Brad Bird looks like he\’s pulled this off pretty well. Hope it lives up to the trailer and Bird goes on to much more work, though I still think he should stick with turning out animation masterpieces instead.
