The international trailer landed a couple of weeks ago for Woody Allen’s upcoming “You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger” and now the North American version has landed and it’s considerably shorter than its overseas counterpart.
While it retains the voice-over narration, and has a few new scenes, it does have a bit less explanation of the intertwining relationships of the characters and ditches the trademark big band music entirely, for the subdued score. Otherwise, all the typical trademarks of a Woody Allen comedy are here: middle/upper class folks experiencing romantic malaise, affairs, flirting, gorgeous apartments and thoughts on the common beauty of this crazy thing called life.
The London-set comedy stars Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts, Anthony Hopkins, Freida Pinto and Lucy Punch and premiered this past spring at Cannes. We missed it then, but we’re eager to check it out when it opens on September 22nd.
