"Now, Nicole Kidman,” Werner Herzog said last summer about her lead performance in his upcoming "Queen Of The Desert." “Wait for that one. Wait for it. I make an ominous prediction: How good she is.” And well, we shall soon see. The filmmaker’s anticipated drama is just a week or so away from being unveiled at the Berlin International Film Festival and the first clip has arrived.
Featuring a pretty nice ensemble which includes the omnipresent James Franco, Robert Pattinson, and “Homeland” star Damian Lewis, the true-story film chronicles the life of Gertrude Bell, a British explorer, traveler, archaeologist and political officer. But as you’ll see in this clip, romance is not part of the equation of her mission in the Middle Eastern desert, no matter how strong the pangs of passion.
Watch below. Is this the Kidman performance we’ve been waiting for? Hit the comments section.
She had more than one expression in Paddington, and she has an Oscar, something butthurt haters will never have. She\’s also well liked by her peers and respected within the film industry. It\’s a shame that people with sad little lives take out their frustration on anonymous message boards. Gertrude Bell was a remarkable woman and Herzog is a visionary director, this film looks exquisite to me.
Kidman has one expression left on her botoxed face and it\’s always of shock/fear with her mouth agape. Too bad. Once upon a time she had promise.
Steph ….. Is that you Nicole??
Sorry/Dawn/Bahahaha = same crazy person who hates Nicole Kidman because she married Keith Urban. She has been posting the same nasty comments about Nicole for the last 10 YEARS and is so insane and desperate that she doesn\’t even realize shés making a huge fool of herself…
The (Botoxed) Queen of Flops!
She is "Queen of the Flops"…Just wait…you\’ll see!
Herzog has lost the plot. Collaborating with Kidman will be his final downfall,
Marsha- you should watch Trespass, Grace of Monaco, Bewitched, The Invasion, Australia, Stepford Wives, The Human Stain, Days of Thunder, The Peacemaker, Cold Mountain (just to name a few) and you will see what a wooden, one dimensional, over-rated actress Nicole Kidman really is.
Marsha- You should watch The Others, Birth, Dogville, Moulin Rouge, To Die For, Rabbit Hole, The Hours, Paperboy or Paddington, you will see what is so great Nicole Kidman! If you don\’t, you\’re hopeless…
Why does Nicole Kidman always have to whisper? Sorry, I don\’t see what is so great about her.
Kidman is one of the greats, as is Herzog – cannot wait for this!
Herzog is a legend. Aguirre, the Wrath of God is incredible. Kidman has nothing to prove. Seems like a natural combination. So what if the Director is trying to generate some buzz for his picture? It\’s never going to be a blockbuster.
@Branimir Because we can buddy, that\’s why. I\’m sorry that nothing else meters to you but what meters to me is Nicole getting a nomination for this movie alright? That\’s what meters, to me.
Why, for God\’s sake, is everyone already talking about Oscars? More than a year in advance. Like nothing else meters.
Sorry – another nail in the coffin of Kidman\’s abysmal b-grade movie career.
Taylor – I think Nicole will get an Oscar nom for this too.
Can\’t wait to see more of Nicole in this movie!
Nicole Kidman is terrific !
Nicole looks great. Oscar nomination may be on the horizon.
wow, people actually run hate message boards about film stars? Lol there\’s plenty to get enraged about in the world, the career of Nicole Kidman though, really? What a waste of time but perverse enough to be fascinating, someone should make a doc.
True Bohmer … if Herzog is aiming for a guaranteed critical and box office flop, he chose the right leading lady.
Bohmer – that comment is coming from a woman who co-runs a Kidman hate message board where she posted a link to this page. Females who still can\’t move on with their lives since Nicole stole their mid-life crisis crush, Keith Urban. ”Sorry” never heard of Herzog until Kidman was cast in his film.
@sorry…yes because everybody knows that the first thing Herzog is aiming for is box office success.
If that clip is anything to go by, this has box office flop written all over it.
I hope this gets her another Oscar nomination!!! Can\’t wait to see it and also see what type of response it garners.
