While "Prometheus" may have stolen the movie trailer fire over the weekend (see what we did there?), the week is kicking off with a bang as a new trailer for the highly anticipated "Snow White & The Huntsman" has arrived, and it promises to face the darker aspects of the story head on. After all, it is a bout a Queen who wants to eat a young girl's heart.
It's particularly interesting to note how dead-serious the tone of the film is considering how fun/silly (think the first "Pirates of The Caribbean" film) the first scripts out there were. This version of the "Snow White And The Huntsman" trailer focuses on the relationship between Snow White (Kristen Stewart) and the man hired to track her down in the dark forest (Chris Hemsworth) by the evil queen (Charlize Theron). And while the film does look "Lord Of The Rings"-ish in spots, we must say, the impressive look of the dark forest — both the dark and sprite-like light side — are very unique (someone like Guillermo Del Toro would be impressed with the faeries). We also get a better look at the dwarves who help out on the journey.
We also gotta say, this thing looks like they didn't scrimp on effects either. The budget on the movie must be at least $150 million, and whatever it was, director Rupert Sanders certainly spent it. Our only quibble here is that Charlize Theron continues to walk away as being far more interesting and compelling on screen than Kristen Stewart. Is it weird that we kind of want to see her come out on top instead of Snow White? Hopefully in the context of the film Stewart will be given a bit more of a chance to shine, but she continues to be second fiddle here — a bit odd when her character is named in the title of the movie.
"Snow White And The Huntsman" opens on June 1st. Watch both the two and five minute trailers below .
I've never seen such ridiculousness in the comment area not to mention this psuedo review of the trailer. Since it is clear none of you know nothing about the script, Snow White is all through it. The Queen stands out because she's evil like Voldemort or Darth Vader. Evilness always stands out.
As for the British accents for you non-experts, Robert Pattinson who is British commended Kristen on her British accent. Not only that, she and Theron had one of the best dialect coaches in the WORLD named Barbara Berkery work with them regarding their British accents. So to say their accents are "all over the place" or any other negative connotation is Bull! You people are just hating because you don't like Kristen Stewart so let's call a spade a spade.
As for the score, James Newton Howard is the composer for the score. He is an Oscar winning composer in his own right and doesn't have to rip off anyone's music. Besides the trailer music is not necessarily the film's music…or haven't you learned that yet?
Kristen Stewart is not playing Second Fiddle to Charlize in this movie. Once you see the entire film or have at least read the script, IT'S ALL ABOUT SNOW WHITE. They are just not giving away the story. The scenes you are seeing are basically Charlize scenes in the entire film. It will be all about Snow White and the Huntsman trust.
Lest you snobs do not realize…but the trailer is not the movie.
Kristen's British accent is perfect and that's according to the British actors she's starring with as well. Nick Frost, Johnny Harris, Sam Claflin, Rupert Sanders all have commended her on her accent. So clean your ears. Her accent is perfect. She's not speaking Cockney. Duh!
The trailer played on The Voice and sent Twitter trending twice in one night. So even thought it doesn't appear that Snow White and the Huntsman isn't to popular with the people who follow this page, it's popluar in the rest of the world.
So keep on hating…because you all sound foolish.
I'm still not convinced. The way Charlize Theron says "all" creeps me out. And for God's sake stop so blindly ripping off Hans Zimmer. An original track would have been half the battle.
Interesting choice of music. And this looks flat out glorious. The official trailer is a bit choppy and I wonder how it plays for anyone who hasn't seen the extended preview first, which makes sense of it all.
i think stewart is playing second fiddle to charlize for a reason. who can attract more people? charlize will own this movie no doubt about that.
Yes, villains are often more compelling than the heroes. But Christian Bale at least has presence and you care about what happens to him. Kristen Stewart just looks like the oddball out here — we're not really given any reason to invest in her plight at all.
playlist a villian 9 times out of 10 is always more compelling
ledger's joker was 100 times more compelling than bale's batman for example
"Our only quibble here is that Charlize Theron continues to walk away as being far more interesting and compelling on screen than Kristen Stewart."—> please explain to me how this is a quibble. This is fantastic news and very very expected. Only in delusion land does Kristen walk away as more interesting and/or compelling than Charlize badass Theron.
This looks fantastic. Still worried about K Stew- lots of lip biting and face scrunching going on. But my queen looks spectacular, fierce, and seems to be working at a higher level than everyone else involved- as usual. Thor man is not disappointing either.
Looks surprisingly fantastic. The Queen will clearly be the best thing about it. Charlize Theron really sinking her teeth into roles, becoming better and better as she gets older; she will rule this film. I'm liking the imagery, tone, atmosphere. Can't wait.
This is going to be a monster year for Charlize Theron.
Looks good until you get to all the shots of KStew wondering around looking like a dazed mouth breather.
Looks badass, plain and simple.
Let's see if the media will bash the accents in the film on the same level they bashed Anne Hathaway's accent in " One Day ? "
You guys are saying it takes itself seriously like that's a bad thing. I think it's important for this movie to establish a serious tone to distance itself from that train wreck of a movie, Mirror Mirror.
Wait, so what'd you do there? (I kinda want to know if someone's trailer on a movie set caught on fire or something)
accent?? who gives a fuck about the accent, this is a fantasy action-adventure movie-not a piece on queen elizabeth.
as for the budget thing,i heard i few times already that the budget is "only" 100 mill $.it just shows you what brilliant young filmmakers can do…
One beauty to rule them all.
Those accents are all over the place. Theron's is hammy, from the land of Olden Timesville. Hemsworth's is a muddled mess. And Stewart is barely attempting one.
Looks great, but I have to agree that this seems to take itself VERY seriously.
Is that really shocking though? "Evil" or "Crazy" characters are often the more memorable. Think of Alice in Wonderland, I remember the Queen of Hearts or the Mad Hatter far more than I remember Alice.
