Watch: New Trailer For Oliver Stone’s Doc On South American Politics ‘South Of The Border’

Back in March, we got our first look at Oliver Stone’s upcoming documentary “South Of The Border,” the director’s investigation into South America’s contemporary politics and social movements. Now, in advance of the film’s limited rollout later this month, a new trailer has arrived for the film. Playing up on the director’s penchant for embracing controversial material, the spot reveals the overall scope of the project that will find Stone talking to various South American leaders about their nation, the United States and the state of politics in the region. Here’s the full synopsis:

There’s a revolution underway in South America, but most of the world doesn’t know it. Oliver Stone sets out on a road trip across five countries to explore the social and political movements as well as the mainstream media’s misperception of South America while interviewing seven of its elected presidents. In casual conversations with Presidents Hugo Chávez (Venezuela), Evo Morales (Bolivia), Lula da Silva (Brazil), Cristina Kirchner (Argentina), as well as her husband and ex-President Nėstor Kirchner, Fernando Lugo (Paraguay), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), and Raúl Castro (Cuba), Stone gains unprecedented access and sheds new light upon the exciting transformations in the region.

“South Of The Border” will start hitting theaters on June 25th. The busy director is also working on “The Secret History Of America,” a ten part television series that promises, among other things, to humanize Hitler; has a documentary on Russell Brand in the works with Albert Maysles and will find his well received sequel “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” hitting theaters on September 24th.
